The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) predicts the occurrence of large volumes of rain in the east of the South Region and in part of the east of the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In the coming hours, the persistent transport of moisture, due to sea winds, will be responsible for the intensification of volumes.
Figures 1a and 1b show the accumulated rainfall predicted by the Cosmo 2,8 km model, between today's morning and Friday morning (26), between the east and the coast of the South and Southeast regions. During this period, the volume of rain predicted in points on the coast and east of São Paulo stands out, where the accumulated rainfall could exceed 125 millimeters (mm).
Due to orography (study of the nuances of the relief of a region), the greatest accumulations of rain should occur, until the weekend, between the coastal strip and the slope of Serra do Mar, especially between the north coast of Santa Catarina and the coast of São Paulo. Rainfall volumes can exceed 100 mm in 24 hours and above 250 mm or 300 mm until Sunday morning (28), as shown in figure 2.
