Inmet issues alert of potential danger for heavy rains

Forecast is for large accumulations of rain in 19 Brazilian states

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued a meteorological warning of potential danger for heavy rains in much of the country, covering 19 states. The forecast indicates precipitation of up to 50 millimeters and winds of up to 60 km/h in the space of 24 hours, in effect between Friday (17) and Saturday (18).

In much of the region North Cloudy skies, rain showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected, especially in areas of Rondônia, Tocantins and northeastern Pará.

In the region Northeast, the highlight is the northern strip, which includes the states of Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte, where many clouds, rain showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected. In the other areas of the region, the possibility of localized rains cannot be ruled out.

No Midwest, practically the entire region should register rain showers with isolated thunderstorms, especially in the Federal District, Goiás and Mato Grosso. In Mato Grosso do Sul, isolated rain showers are expected.

In the region Southeast, the rains are expected to affect the entire state of São Paulo, the south of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, with approximate volumes of up to 60 millimeters during the period.

No Sul In the country, the highlight is the east of the region, which will have many clouds, rain showers and isolated thunderstorms. In addition, a heat wave is forecast in areas of Missões and Campanha, in Rio Grande do Sul, with a potential danger warning valid from today (17) until Sunday (19).
