With significant numbers on Santa Catarina soil, the production of irrigated rice involves countless people so that the best grains reach the tables of thousands of consumers. For everything to come out with the highest possible quality, the partnership between farmers and industries becomes essential throughout the year, since each party depends on the other to develop. It is for this reason that the Santa Catarina Rice Industries Union (SindArroz-SC) wants to strengthen this bond more every day.

Even though the exchange may be more intense in the first half of the year, due to the rice harvest, the synergy should remain in the other months, as companies remain available throughout the year to assist farmers with questions, guidance and other needs that may arise. to emerge.

Having visited his family's farms since childhood, Rodrigo Pasini understands the need for this link with industries, whether small, medium or large. With more than 30 years of experience in the area, for the farmer, this exchange is a two-way street and it is through this that the grain he grows is tasted by dozens of people.

“We need someone with knowledge and who has the necessary equipment to benefit from this product so present in the meal. Adding our daily dedication to the care that industries take, we are able to offer a high quality cereal, especially because consumers are increasingly critical and demanding”, says Pasini.

Due to the development of technology, what was previously done manually on plantations is now done by large machines. However, according to the producer, the worries are as tiring as the manual work. “We have to pay attention to the small details so that everything turns out in the best way possible, whether during planting, harvesting or preparing the area for the next harvest. Our mind is always thinking ahead and looking for ways to get around any setbacks that may arise, especially when it comes to bad weather,” he emphasizes.

Contribution to the SC economy

According to information from the Santa Catarina Department of Agriculture, rice has great social and economic importance for the State. With plantations spread across 93 municipalities, the cereal is cultivated on 147 thousand hectares and is responsible for employing more than 50 thousand people.

In the perception of the president of SindArroz-SC, Walmir Rampinelli, understanding the impact that rice farming has on the economy of Santa Catarina makes the need for good partnerships between industries and rural producers even more evident.

“We want the producer to be strong and grow, because if he is doing well, our 26 industries associated with SindArroz will also be rewarded. It is a relationship of equality and exchange in the same proportion. And we want to strengthen this partnership so much that we are already discussing the possibility of offering training to farmers, so that they can make crops more productive and more efficient, further supporting our production chain”, he highlights.
