The event that marked the delivery of the goals proposed by the Movimento Colmeia Viva within the scope of the Public Commitment 27 (2020-2017) took place last Friday, November 20th. Colmeia Viva is an initiative from the agricultural pesticides sector with the aim of promoting a more constructive relationship between agriculture and beekeeping and encouraging dialogue between farmers and beekeepers. The movement covers the entire national agricultural border.

“Mission accomplished”, celebrated veterinarian Daniel Espanholeto, coordinator of the movement. “We move forward to protect crops and bees, respecting beekeeping, the environment and also people's basic right to food”, added agricultural engineer Rhaissa Michievicy, also at the forefront of the movement in the 2017-2020 cycle.

Opened by the member of the board of Sindiveg - National Union of Plant Defense Products -, Fabio Torretta, the meeting brought together the 14 signatory companies of the movement. According to Torretta, from 2021 Colmeia Viva will become a cause embraced by the 26 companies associated with Sindiveg.

In addition to entities representing the agricultural and beekeeping sectors, such as Sindag (agricultural aviation) and Andav (input distribution), the Ibama director of Environmental Quality, Carolina Fiorillo Mariani, and Bruno Breitenbach, coordinating auditor for the area of Agricultural Inspection of Mapa – Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply. The director of the ABELHA entity, Ana Assad, discussed the importance of science linked to the study of pollinators and their relationship with crops.

Another important participation was that of agronomist and agricultural inspector Matheus Mazon Fraga, from Cidasc – Companhia de Desenvolvimento Integrado de Santa Catarina. “Contact with Colmeia Viva proved to be essential for us to advance in the construction of a public policy with technical gains in the relationship between farmers and beekeepers. Professor Osmar Malaspina, from Unesp in Rio Claro-SP, who together with his colleague Roberta Nocelli, from the Federal University of São Carlos-SP (UFSCar), participated in the research initiative Participatory Bee Mapping (MAP) highlighted the relevance of this action . The MAP brought to light the main causes of bee mortality, observed in around 80 municipalities in São Paulo, involving almost 200 farmers and beekeepers.

“The knowledge produced by MAP has no precedent anywhere in the world. I appeal to the beekeeping sector to be less restrictive when approaching farmers. Those who joined the project are now producing more, expanding the benefits of this relationship. May we make further progress on this issue in the coming years”, highlighted Malaspina.

Espanholeto and Rhaissa explained that the MAP survey provided the strategic basis for the action of the Colmeia Viva Movement: creating communication and technology tools that would bring farmers and beekeepers closer together, thus promoting a more productive and friendly relationship between agriculture, beekeeping and agricultural pesticides in the regions. production in the country.

Also at the event, the Movimento Colmeia Viva announced the launch of the editorial publication Innovation of the Agricultural Pesticides Industry for a More Productive Relationship Between Agriculture and Beekeeping, which reproduces the trajectory of the movement in the 2017-2020 cycle and will begin circulating in the coming days.
