With transplants completed at the end of June, covering an area of around 19 thousand hectares, production of close to 1,9 million tons of industrial tomatoes is expected. It is considered the largest harvest recorded in the country, according to the Brazilian Association of Industrial Tomato Processors and Users (Tomate BR).

Due to the weather conditions of March and April there will be two moments in the harvest: the first marked by average volumes and quality due to damage caused by rain; the second, made up of transplants from mid-April to June, with the usual quality.

Some harvests started in mid-June. The full harvest began in the last week of July. Its beginning was marked by a high incidence of green fruits and average productivity.

For the second semester, according to the association, the main point to highlight is climate inversion. From a La Niña to a medium-intensity El Niño, which will lead to higher temperatures and accelerated fruit maturation in the field.

Even given the climate scenario, the outlook remains the same as for forecasts of volume produced.
