Total shipments of Brazilian orange juice in the period from July to December, which marks the first six months of the 2022/2023 harvest, closed with a total volume of 586.313 tons (FCOJ Equivalent to 66º Brix). The number represents an increase of 17,19% compared to the same period of the last harvest, when 500.323 tons were exported. In terms of revenue, exports totaled US$ 1,1 billion in the period, a volume 37,73% above the revenue of US$ 803,8 million recorded between July and December 2021. The data was released by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex ) and compiled by CitrusBR.

According to the executive director of CitrusBR, Ibiapaba Netto, the increase in stocks was expected for several reasons. “The first is that the failure of the previous harvest was significant and there was a lack of product, as we announced in February last year”, he comments. “The second reason is that this supply restriction caused stocks to drop to critical levels, so a movement of juice was expected to replenish the main markets”, he assesses. According to Netto, although the scenario is better than in the previous harvest, the availability of juice remains restricted. “Florida’s harvest is the smallest ever and Brazilian production is on average low, which leads us to a very challenging scenario from the point of view of product supply.”
