TMG bets on corn and biotechnology to increase market share
The company is expected to launch two hybrids in 2025 and increase supply to four to five launches per year from then on.
The incorrect use of agricultural pesticides is one of the major challenges in agriculture. Unprotected handling and improper application of inputs can impact several links in the chain, putting the environment, consumer and rural producer health at risk, and compromising productivity in the field.
For this reason, BASF, in partnership with Emater of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), promoted a workshop for around 120 agricultural inspectors and rural extension workers. The event, divided into eight content blocks, aimed to disseminate updated knowledge on fundamental topics for crop safety.
The training was marked by lectures led by BASF experts on new product development and consumer safety, as well as a discussion on challenges and trends in the field, focusing on Xarvio Digital Farming Solutions, BASF's global digital agriculture brand that offers solutions to optimize crop management with technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).
“Rural extension workers play a fundamental role in agriculture, acting as a bridge between scientific knowledge and rural producers,” he says. Alexandre Bos (pictured, left), Regulatory Affairs Manager for Specialties at BASF Agricultural Solutions. “Our role is to support them so that they are up to date with the best practices and technologies available on the market, especially in a scenario of constant challenges in the field,” concludes the executive.
BASF Agricultural Solutions' Stewardship and Sustainability Manager, Mauricio Fernandes (pictured, center), discussed the safe use of drones, which has been gaining more and more space in agriculture. Since 2021, this technology has been regulated by the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa).
Professionals from CropLife Brasil and the National Institute for Processing Empty Packaging (InpEV) also joined the event to expand knowledge about the correct use of agricultural pesticides and the sustainable disposal of packaging.
The agricultural engineer and coordinator of Plant Health Defense at Emater/RS, Elder Dal Pra (in the photo, on the right), states that the joint work with BASF has been very positive in strengthening the work of extension agents in Rio Grande do Sul: “To date, Emater has offered more than 660 courses on good agricultural application practices, with the participation of more than 16 thousand producers”, he highlights.
The workshop was held virtually on September 18 and 27. In total, 40 inspectors from the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi) of Rio Grande do Sul and 70 rural extension workers from Emater/RS participated.
Technical cooperation between BASF and Emater/RS has existed since 2020 with the aim of providing quality information on the use of agricultural pesticides to rural extension workers. The focus is to ensure that good agricultural practices are adopted consistently, aiming at preserving the environment and protecting the health of the population.
