The Agriculture and Livestock Federation of Mato Grosso do Sul released its Weekly Rural House Bulletin, indicating new reports on the planting of the second corn crop in the state.

The new update indicated the end of planting work for the second corn harvest in the state, totaling 1,992 million hectares cultivated, a reduction of 12,6% of what was sown in the last harvest of 2021. On the other hand, the estimated productivity is of 78,13 bags per hectare, which could result in a total final production of 9,34 million tons.

According to analyst Thiago Carvalho, from Tarken, a Brazilian agritech that offers a marketplace for grain trading, to date, producers in Mato Grosso do Sul have already negotiated 13,20% of the entire estimated production of the second harvest of 2022.

The Tarken price in the Campo Grande and Chapadão do Sul regions is between R$73 and R$74 reais, and in Dourados, R$76 per bag.

In MG, expectations continue with higher volume of negotiations

The expectation is for a week with greater trading volume in the Minas Gerais corn market, according to analyst Bernardo Lopes.

After a few days of less activity in the market, especially with another holiday last Thursday, greater demand for corn is expected from buyers in the state.

Values close to R$80 are speculated in the Triângulo Mineiro, as well as cities in the northwest of the state. In Pará de Minas, the purchasing hub in the central region, the bid of R$85 CIF continues.

Due to the drop in price, many producers have already signaled their preference for grain storage, hoping for better prices in the off-season. The biggest concern continues to be the lack of rain, which has been hampering the development of off-season corn since mid-March.
