Continuity of La Niña favors the current coffee harvest
The continuation of the drier climate, consequently with low relative humidity, may contribute to improving the quality of the coffee being harvested this season
Expocafé is back to an in-person format, after two completely virtual editions. The event takes place between May 25th and 27th (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) at the Experimental Field of the Agricultural Research Company of Minas Gerais (EPAMIG), in Três Pontas. This, which is the 25th edition of the fair, debuted the expanded format, which also included virtual activities held on the 10th, 11th, 12th and 18th of May.
The more than 120 exhibitors confirmed at Expocafé 2022 will present solutions in machinery, implements and inputs for farming, as well as alternatives for the property, such as solar energy. “The fair offers products that meet the different needs of small, medium and large producers. In addition to new developments in the sector, visitors have access to and implements needed in the day-to-day life of coffee growing and other agricultural activities, from basic inputs such as insecticides and bioinsecticides, fertilizers and fertilizers to harvesters and processing machines”, highlights the general coordinator of Expocafé, Clenderson Corradi.
Banking institutions and credit unions are also among the exhibitors, with the aim of offering financing options and lines of credit to coffee growers. Partners and supporters of the event include the Federal University of Lavras (Phew), Coffee Growers Cooperative of Zona de Três Pontas Ltda (Cocatrel), Três Pontas City Hall e Emater-MG, Besides the EPAMIG, the event's organizer, will have their own stands for services and special programming.
A traditional participant in Expocafé, Pinhalense Máquinas Agrícolas will bring to this edition the launches of the year: Compacta peeler, Selgron THS and TNS selectors and coffee harvester – P1000 TR Smart. “After an unprecedented partnership with the Santa Catarina industry Selgron, Pinhalense began to sell sorting machines that electronically separate grains. During Expocafé, the two models made available by Pinhalense will be presented: the Selgron THS selector and the TNS optical selector”, informs the company's commercial sector.
Also in the machinery segment, the company Agritech will present models adapted for coffee farming. “These are lightweight, narrow and economical versions of cabin tractors, which do not compact the soil and are easy to operate. We have been operating in the coffee market for many years and, for this reason, we are able to understand the needs of producers and develop the best solutions”, says the company's Sales and Marketing coordinator, Cesar Roberto Guimarães.
Companies exhibiting at Expocafé 2022 can also be visited remotely. From next Tuesday, May 24th, the virtual stands will be available for access via the website www.expocafeoficial.com.br. O 3rd Coffee Production Technical Meeting, held between the 10th and 12th of May, and the virtual program of the 2nd Expocafé Mulheres, which took place on May 18th, are available for access by registering on the website.
The main national technology transfer event in coffee farming, Expocafé will have a diverse technical program. The attractions begin on the eve of the opening of the event to the public, on May 24th (Tuesday), with the 11th Coffee Farming Mechanization Symposium, at the EPAMIG Experimental Field in Três Pontas. With the theme “Mechanized Management and Precision Coffee Farming”, the event will start at 8am. Registration, worth R$60 for students and R$120 for other participants, must be made on site, on the day of the Symposium.
Between the 25th and 27th of May, along with the machines exhibition, there will be technical lectures, machine dynamics and special attractions such as: the Aromas and Flavors Space, which will give the public the opportunity to learn about different methods of producing and preparing coffees , in addition to tasting the drink; the Innovative Producer Space at Expocafé 2022, which aims to present, publicize and seek the interaction of rural producers in the coffee sector with new technologies for the business chain; and the 2nd Expocafé Mulheres with programming, which includes lectures, mini-courses and chats with female coffee industry leaders.
