For the third consecutive year, banana production in Goiás is expected to register growth in Gross Production Value (VBP). The projection by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), released last Monday (14/8), points to an expansion of 13,9% in gross revenue from fruit in 2023. The estimated value for banana farming in Goiás, of R$395,6 million, represents the best performance for the segment among the Central-West States.
Other products from Goiás also have a good outlook. The VBP of tomatoes, for example, is expected to increase by 30,5% and reach R$5,6 billion in 2023. The difference compared to last year is more than R$1,3 billion. Sugarcane, milk and eggs also stand out in the Mapa survey. The values of these productions should reach, in Goiás, R$ 11,7 billion (+3,6% in relation to 2022 revenue), R$ 5,7 billion (+5,2%) and R$ 1,4 billion (+33,9), respectively.
In agriculture, it is also worth mentioning the performance of state orange and grape production. According to Mapa, the orange VBP should increase 29,2% and reach R$203,6 million. The VBP of grapes is expected to grow 6,4%, reaching R$8,5 million. In livestock farming, the projected result for the VBP of pigs in Goiás draws attention: the Mapa estimate is an increase of 4,5%. With the expansion, pig farming in Goiás should register R$ 1,2 billion in Gross Production Value.
Also according to the Map, the total VBP of agriculture in Goiás should total R$92,4 billion in 2023, with R$65,1 billion coming from agriculture and R$27,3 billion from livestock. “Goiás remains in fifth place nationally among the States with the highest VBPs, accounting for 8,1% of the Country's Gross Production Value. This motivates us to work harder to promote the growth of all segments of our agribusiness. If agriculture grows, Goiás grows, and improves people's lives”, says secretary Pedro Leonardo.
