Pottente is IHARA's newest solution for managing nematodes that attack sugarcane. The study of this technology began in 2007 and over the last six years, the company has allocated several investments in research and development to create Pottente.

Every year, nematodes become a serious problem in several crops and this is no different with sugar cane. The attack on plantations causes various damages and symptoms such as loss of root quality and reduction of radicelles, factors that incapacitate the plant from absorbing water and nutrients in adequate quantities, making them stunted, chlorotic and unable to reach adequate productive levels. Furthermore, all sugarcane varieties currently planted for commercial purposes are susceptible or hypersensitive to nematodes.

“The sugar and alcohol sector gives Brazil a prominent position on the international scene and a unique bioenergy model. Therefore, IHARA has dedicated great efforts to solving phytosanitary problems in this sector. And, to meet this scenario, Pottente is a fundamental tool that aims to increase the efficiency of sugarcane fields”, comments IHARA insecticide manager, Michel Tomazella. "It is also important to highlight that the biggest cost of the sugarcane plantation is its implementation and it is not expected to repeat this operation before five years, with more than seven years being desirable to, only then, carry out replanting. This is another great contribution when manages the sugarcane field with Pottente" concludes Tomazella.
