Since 2012, Ihara, a company specialized in technologies and pesticides for crop protection, has supported the adoption of good practices and the correct and safe use of agricultural pesticides through the Cultivida project. Furthermore, the project promoted the training of public health agents to identify possible cases of poisoning by these compounds in general, as well as the assessment of the health conditions of the rural population involved in agricultural activities. Additionally, the project distributes PPE.

In the initial phase of the project, between 2012 and 2016, Cultivida passed through more than 20 municipalities in 13 states in the country. With the next stage, implemented from 2017 and which continues to date, around 600 thousand pieces of PPE, totaling an investment of more than R﹩ 8 million.

Through a partnership with the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), Cultivida also involved, in the period between 2012 and 2016, the training of health professionals from the Unified Health System (SUS) in the regions. In total, almost 2 thousand health agents were trained, with the aim of enabling them to implement the Health Monitoring Program for Populations Exposed to Agricultural Pesticides.

Regions with small properties, where the family itself is responsible for applying agricultural pesticides, are the focus of the project. This audience receives information related to good agricultural practices, such as the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), application technology and final destination of packaging.

For 2021, the company intends to continue the project with a planned investment of approximately R$4 million and a target of distributing more than 200 thousand PPE.
