Advances in the use of digital technologies are seen as one of the determining factors for Brazilian agriculture to maintain its productive capacity in a sustainable manner, both from an economic, environmental and social point of view. The participation of small and medium-sized rural producers in this process of transformation in the countryside is fundamental. To this end, Embrapa, linked to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, and the São Paulo State Research Support Foundation (Fapesp), launched the Science Center for Development in Digital Agriculture (CCD-AD/Semear Digital).
Based at Embrapa Digital Agriculture, in Campinas, CCD-AD Semear is one of Fapesp's Science for Development Centers and aims to contribute to expanding agricultural production and productivity in a more sustainable way through digital technologies.
Among the planned actions are the Agrotechnological Districts (DATs), in different regions of the country, to promote connectivity solutions in rural areas and the insertion of digital technologies in agricultural production processes, involving, for example, applications in artificial intelligence and remote sensing, automation and precision agriculture, traceability and certification.
