Erik Fyrwald: “organic harms the climate”
In an interview with the Swiss newspaper NZZ, CEO of Syngenta explains the current situation in agriculture and the challenges faced
One of the largest agricultural fairs in the world, Agrishow reached the end of its 2022 edition with records: around 11,2 billion reais were handled, 280% more than in the last in-person edition, in 2019, according to the organizers. Among the companies that strengthened their business at the event is Hexagon's Agriculture division, a reference in digital solutions for the field. The company closed 25 sales with partners and entered into new negotiations with large Brazilian and international sugarcane mills.
“After two years without this important industry event, customers came to the fair willing to learn about solutions and make agreements. We saw a booming market, resulting in increased sales and the closing of partnerships with important brands”, says Bernardo de Castro, president of the division. One of the highlights at the company's stand was the launch of a new ECU (Electronic Control Unit), which interfaces with sensors and actuators in agricultural implements with ISOBUS standard communication.
“The controllers, such as the launch, autopilot and displays are some of the equipment that we work heavily on in collaboration with Hexagon. It brought us a quality of technology that surprises. It’s a product that doesn’t bother you: the customer takes the solution to the field and is happy”, points out one of the partners who stopped by the Agriculture division’s stand, Gustavo Adolfo Schilling Neto, owner of Master Agro Máquinas e Implementos Agrícolas.
Another company that strengthened business was Jan Implementos Agrícolas, which has been working with Hexagon products for almost five years. “They are easy-to-use equipment, which achieve their objective — simple and with good performance”, reinforces Claudiomiro Santos, commercial manager at the enterprise. Today, all Jan spraying machines are sold with Hexagon technology on board.
Monday's agricultural machines, on the Paraguayan market for 18 years, have also been combined with Brazilian solutions. When visiting the stand of Hexagon's Agriculture division, Rafael Vefago, the brand's commercial director, commented how the union brought improvements to the machinery supplier's portfolio. “We were able to help the client achieve their objective, of having the best production at the lowest cost”, he reinforced.
More than 190 thousand people passed through Agrishow, which had around 800 stands. In its space, in addition to the new ECU, Hexagon's Agriculture division displayed other well-known technologies, such as displays and precision tools that can be incorporated into these products. “Today, we see that Hexagon is one of the main suppliers of precision agriculture equipment on the market, with a complete portfolio. These are easy-to-use solutions with good technical assistance”, comments Fábio de Oliveira Neves, from Precision Ag Soluções Agrícolas, a partner of the division since 2010.
The assistance was also highlighted by other partners who were present at Agrishow, such as Cristiano Taufer, sales manager at the reseller Pantanal Peças. “Our company’s professionals are qualified and trained by Hexagon’s own professionals, both within the factory and in the field. This brings a huge result to our resale. We managed to gain customer loyalty through good service and agility”, explained the manager.
