Credit for the rural sector totals R$73,8 billion in three months of the Safra Plan
The favorable performance of rural credit was reflected in an increase of 28% compared to the same previous period
Mato Grosso do Sul closed the 2019/2020 winter corn harvest with 10,618 million tons harvested. The productivity of 93,4 bags per hectare is the highest since the 2013/2014 harvest, when the data began to be evaluated by the SigaMS Project, the Agribusiness Geographic Information System.
The harvest monitoring system was implemented by Semagro (Secretariat of Environment, Economic Development, Production and Family Agriculture) in partnership with Famasul (MS Agriculture and Livestock Federation) and Aprosoja/MS (Association of Soybean and Corn) and allows obtaining real and updated data on harvests.
Bulletin 378/2020 with the harvest balance shows that the corn area reached 1,895 million hectares. Even though it was lower than the 2018/2019 harvest, productivity reached a record in Mato Grosso do Sul. "In this harvest we noticed that the producer chose to reduce the planted area, but with quality, in the correct window, which resulted in good productivity even with bad weather It was not an easy harvest, but we see the producer becoming more and more efficient", highlights the president of Aprosoja/MS, André Dobashi.
Between the 2013/2014 and 2019/2020 harvests, production grew by 23,68%, the planted area increased by 13,47% and productivity increased by 9%. The good result in the current harvest, despite the delay in planting and reduction in the cultivated area, shows that the producer has increasingly invested in technologies.
“We had a cautious forecast due to the difficulties of the harvest, but in the last review we saw the results of technology and farmers' commitment. It is a result to be celebrated, as it creates a structuring of the production chain and places Mato Grosso do Sul in a good position at national level”, highlights secretary Jaime Verruck.
The southern region corresponds to 67,5% of the entire planted area in the State, with emphasis on the municipality of Aral Moreira, which achieved productivity of 110 bags per hectare and Maracaju produced 1,649 million tons. The central region holds 20% of the area covered with corn, where Sidrolândia alone produced 989 tons of corn. The northern region represents 11,9% of the planted area, monitored by SigaMS.
President of the Famasul System, Mauricio Saito states that Mato Grosso do Sul is consolidated as an important corn producer. "Historically, because it is produced in a second harvest, corn can go through more severe weather conditions. Even so, our producers, with appropriate technologies and entrepreneurship, have achieved good results in production: an accumulated increase of 24% in the last 7 years. These are data that, increasingly, project the state to a prominent level in the world ranking of grain production and exports”.
