Growmark Inc., an agricultural cooperative operating in North America, announced that it has achieved System and Organizational Controls (SOC) 2 Type I compliance certification. This certification is a widely recognized set of security standards designed to ensure that service providers have appropriate controls to protect the security, availability and confidentiality of customer data.
To achieve SOC 2 compliance, companies undergo an independent, third-party audit when an auditor reviews the company's controls, policies and procedures and tests them to confirm that they meet a set of rigorous standards designed to protect sensitive data.
Information Security Manager Jeff Mosley, who helped lead the project, says this level of data security ensures that doing business with Growmark is safe and secure. “This security designation confirms our commitment to the security of the data we provide to our customers. When companies do business with us, regardless of their size or location in the world, we can offer them the highest standard of data security,” he said.
Current customers using SAP, Agvance, MyGrowmark and MyFS digital platforms also benefit from this new level of data security. “Our current customers, from the agricultural field to the boardroom, can rest assured that their data is secure when they use our digital management tools,” explained the manager.
The audit was completed with the help of Johanson Group LLP, a leading certification body that helps organizations achieve and maintain global compliance standards. The Johanson Group has attested to Growmark's information security controls in meeting leading industry standards for wholesale and retail agricultural and energy products and services. The group specializes in SOC 2 audits and provides audit and professional services to public and private companies, large and small, across a variety of industries.
The security audit required to maintain SOC Type II certification is performed annually.
