The total gross value of Brazilian Coffee production estimated for the current coffee year of 2024, which is produced in the five geographic regions of the country, was estimated at R$72,25 billion, a figure that compared to the revenue actually recorded in 2023, which was R$51,69 billion, represents a significant increase of 39,77%.
In this context, it is worth highlighting in this analysis and disclosure that the gross value of coffee production, exclusively in the Southeast Region, was estimated at R$62,24 billion, a value that is equivalent to 86,14% of the total obtained at a national level. And, next, the Northeast Region stands out, whose expected revenue for 2024 was calculated at R$5,12 billion, and, thus, this amount represents 7,09% of this same comparative basis.
In third place in this ranking is the North Region, with revenue of R$3,41 billion (4,72%), followed by the South Region, in fourth place, with R$878,12 million (1,21%). And finally, comes the Central-West Region, in fifth place, which had its gross revenue from coffee production estimated at R$605,43 million, a figure that represents around 0,84% of the total that was obtained in the five geographic regions of the country in 2024.
Specifically regarding the Gross Value of Production VBP of coffees produced in the Southeast Region (R$ 62,24 billion), which, as mentioned, represents around 86,14% of the global value estimated in the country for 2024, and, obviously, is the largest producing region in the country, it is also worth highlighting and comparing in this analysis individually the revenue of each of the four coffee producing states in this region.
Thus, it can be seen that the value of coffee from Minas Gerais, the largest coffee producing state in the country, reaching R$36,62 billion represents 58,84% of the total recorded in the Southeast Region. Next comes Espírito Santo, the second largest coffee producing state in Brazil, whose gross value was calculated at R$17,85 billion, which represents 28,68% of the total for the region in question.
And, in third place in this ranking, the state of São Paulo stands out, with an estimated revenue of R$ 7,35 billion, which is equivalent to 11,82% of this same comparative base. And, finally, in fourth place, comes the state of Rio de Janeiro, with a value of R$ 401,42 million, a figure that represents only around 0,7% of the total that was recorded for the entire Southeast Region.
Regarding coffee production in the Northeast Region, which is the second largest geographic region for producing coffee in Brazil, with an estimated revenue of R$5,12 billion for 2024, a figure that represents 7,09% of the national estimate. And, specifically in relation to the state of Bahia, which had an estimated revenue of R$5,09 billion, this estimate is equivalent to 99,6% of the total for this region. Next comes the state of Ceará, with R$11,07 million of the gross value, followed by Pernambuco, whose estimate was R$9,71 million, whose estimates together represent only 0,4% of what will be obtained in the region in question.
It is also worth highlighting in this analysis that the North Region, whose gross revenue was estimated at R$3,41 billion, is equivalent to 4,72% of the amount that will be collected at the national level. In this case, it is worth noting that the state of Rondônia had its revenue estimated at R$3,33 billion, which is equivalent to 97,77% of what will be obtained from the gross production of coffee farming. And, next comes the state of Acre, with R$57,68 million (1,7%), followed by Amazonas, with R$14,68 million (0,43%), and, finally, Pará with R$3,61 million of gross value of coffee production, which completes 100% of the value of this region.
Concluding this ranking of the gross value of Brazilian coffee production, the Central-West Region is in fifth place, with revenue estimated at R$605,43 million for this coffee year of 2024, and thus represents around 0,83% of the national revenue. In this case, it can be seen that the state of Goiás, with R$357,16 million, will have revenue equivalent to 59,0% of this region. Next comes Mato Grosso, with R$230,40 million (38,05%), and, in third, the Federal District stands out, with R$16,19 million (2,68%). In fourth place, Mato Grosso do Sul, with R$1,66 million, a figure that represents 0,27% of the gross value of this region.
Finally, it is also worth clarifying that these analyses of the performance of the Gross Production Value - VBP of Brazilian Coffees, which are now the subject of this analysis and dissemination by the Coffee Observatory of the Coffee Research Consortium, coordinated by Embrapa Café, are based on the data and numbers contained in the VBP October 2024, from the Secretariat of Agricultural Policy (SPA), of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Livestock (Mapa).
In addition, it is worth clarifying that the VBP is prepared and published monthly by SPA based on the Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production (LSPA), by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), and, also, in the specific case of coffee prices, it adopts as a basis the average prices received by producers from January to October 2024, taking as a reference type 6 Arabica coffee, hard drink for better, and type 6 Robusta coffee, sieve 13, with 86 defects.
