The gross production value of all Brazilian Coffee crops, for the 2022 coffee year, was estimated at R$62,9 billion. Said revenue is based on the estimated harvest volume and the respective average prices actually received by coffee growers, in the period from January to May of the current year.

As Brazilian Coffees are cultivated in the five Brazilian geographic regions, in 17 states of the Federation, including the Federal District, if a ranking is established in descending order of the revenues of these producing regions forecast for the current coffee year, the following: in first place, the Southeast Region stands out with an estimated revenue of R$ 54,8 billion, a figure that corresponds to approximately 87,1% of the national total.

In second place comes the Northeast Region with revenue estimated at R$4,13 billion, which is equivalent to 6,6% of the total. In addition, in third place in this ranking is the North Region, whose revenue from coffee plantations was estimated at R$ 2,65 billion, which corresponds to 4,2% of this same comparative basis; and, still, in fourth place, with expected revenue of R$ 768,47 million, the South Region will have a share of around 1,2%. Finally, the Central-West Region, with revenue estimated at R$542,35 million, will correspond to less than 1% of the total revenue estimated for Cafés do Brasil in the current year.

These analyzes of the performance of the Gross Production Value – VBP of coffee farming, which are now being disseminated by the Coffee Observatory of the Consórcio Pesquisa Café, coordinated by Embrapa Café, were based on the data and numbers contained in the VBP May 2022 of the Secretariat of Agricultural Policy – SPA, of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply – Mapa.

In this sense, it is worth clarifying that the VBP is prepared and published monthly by SPA/Mapa based on the Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production – LSPA, from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics – IBGE, and also, in the specific case of coffee, on prices averages received by producers, taking as a reference type 6 Arabica coffee, a hard drink for better, and type 6 Robusta coffee, sieve 1.

In addition, if a VBP ranking is also established, exclusively for the six largest coffee producing states in Brazil, for the 2022 coffee year, in descending order, it appears that the state of Minas Gerais stands out with gross revenue estimated at R$34,08 billion, which is equivalent to 54% of the total VBP for coffee farming, an amount that was estimated at R$62,9 billion, as previously mentioned. In second place comes the state of Espírito Santo with R$14,15 billion, a figure corresponding to 22,5%.

And in third place in this ranking, the state of São Paulo stands out with R$6,09 billion, revenue that, if confirmed, will be equivalent to approximately 9,7% of the total. In fourth place is the state of Bahia with R$4,11 billion (6,5%); in fifth Rondônia with R$ 2,54 billion (4%); and, finally, the state of Paraná, which is currently the sixth largest coffee producing state in the Federation, with R$ 768,47 million, corresponding revenues of around 1,2% of the total VBP of Cafés do Brasil production. Other producing states make up the remaining 2,1% of total revenue.
