In the administrative region of Emater/RS-Ascar de Santa Rosa, the crop remains in the final harvest phase and presents an excellent bunch load, however the berries, with the exception of the Niágara Branca cultivar, are reduced in size due to lack of humidity.

According to the Economic Information, released on Thursday (23/02) by Emater/RS-Ascar, there is an incidence of diseases in orchards that did not have winter and preventive treatment in the vegetative phase, such as downy mildew in the Niágara Branca variety and anthracnose in the others.

Soybean

The occurrence of rain in the State, in general, alleviates the situation of the crop, which has been suffering from drought. During the week, 85% of crops were in the flowering (34%) and grain filling (51%) phases, another 11% are still in germination and vegetative development and 4% are already flowering.

Corn

The corn harvest reaches 54% of the total area sown in the State. Some crops benefited from the week's rain. Another 16% are in the maturation phase, 13% in grain filling, 9% in flowering and 8% in germination and vegetative development.

Rice

Rice cultivation continues at the beginning of the harvest, which is progressing slowly, reaching 4% of the cultivated area in the State. Another 21% are in the maturation phase, 47% in grain filling, 20% in flowering and 8% in germination and vegetative development.

Vegetable crops

In the administrative region of Emater/RS-Ascar de Bagé, in Candiota, vegetable producers are halting cultivation due to the lack of water for irrigation, but are prioritizing water resources to water their livestock.

Pastures

With the occurrence of rain, soil moisture conditions improved, favoring the development of both annual and perennial forages. Native pastures are beginning to recover, increasing the supply of forage to the herds. As a result, little by little, the losses caused by the effects of drought begin to be recovered.

However, in most regions, regular volumes of rain are still needed to allow the full recovery of pastures, as well as watersheds. Many producers are already starting to organize themselves for planting winter pastures.

Weather forecast

Next week is expected to see significant rain in several regions of RS. Between this Thursday (23/02) and Saturday (25/02), the spread of a low pressure area and a cold front will cause rain across the State, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms. On Sunday (26/02), there will still be rain showers in the North and Northeast, while in the rest of the State the arrival of a mass of dry air will keep the weather firm and temperatures mild.

On Monday (27/02), dry weather will prevail in all regions. On Tuesday (28/02) and Wednesday (01/03), the displacement of a low pressure area will favor an increase in cloudiness, with rain showers and thunderstorms in most regions.
Expected rainfall volumes are expected to range between 15 and 35 mm in most locations. In Fronteira Oeste, Missões, Vale do Uruguai and Planalto, totals between 40 and 50mm are predicted.
