Research reveals mechanism of soybean resistance to root rot
Overexpression of the GmSRC2 gene increases soybean resistance to the pathogen, reducing disease symptoms and providing new perspectives for the development of more resistant cultivars
This year's grape harvest for industrialization in Rio Grande do Sul fell by 26,58% compared to 2023, with the production of 485.564.476,63 kilos of wine grapes, American and hybrid. The data, extracted from the Wine Declaration System (Sisdevin) of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi), were released today by the Inspection Division of Products of Plant Origin (Dipov/Seapi).
Both American or hybrid grapes and wine grapes (used to make fine wines) recorded a drop compared to the previous harvest, of 24,5% and 41,05%, respectively.
“Excessive rainfall in spring and fungal diseases, such as mildew, are highlighted by experts as some of the factors responsible for the decrease in production,” says the head of Dipov, Fabíola Boscaini Lopes.
Wine production in 2024 saw a reduction of 42,04% in total when compared to the previous harvest. The production of table wines (American or hybrid) showed a decrease of 39,55%. Fine wines, on the other hand, showed a reduction of 51,27%.
Grape juice production in 2024 increased by 73,67% compared to the previous harvest, while concentrated juice experienced a reduction of 43,17%.
The total production of sparkling wine base and sparkling wine showed a reduction of 23,12%. The Charmat and Champenoise bases had a reduction of 39,96% and 41,07%, respectively. The production of Moscatel sparkling wine decreased by 27,67%, when compared to the 2023 harvest.
Organic products also saw a reduction in the 2024 harvest, with a 21,44% drop in juice production and 84,95% in the production of organic wines.
Data on the grape harvest for industrialization are obtained through information provided by wineries in Sisdevin.
“All information in Sisdevin is declaratory, under the responsibility of wine establishments, registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and registered in the system”, he concludes.
