The updating of data on crops of corn 2nd harvest, cored beans 3rd harvest, oats, canola, rye, barley, wheat and triticale began to be carried out by the National Supply Company (Conab) and continues until Friday (31) in Paraná . All information gathering work is being carried out remotely as a measure to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

The research relies on an important network of informants in the state and will compile information about cultures in 32 municipalities in Paraná. They are: Jacarezinho, Cornélio Procópio, Londrina, Apucarana, Maringá, Paranavaí, Astorga, Bandeirantes, Ivaiporã, Campo Mourão, Umuarama, Palotina, Toledo, Cascavel, Medianeira, Ubiratã, Capanema, Francisco Beltrão, São João, Pato Branco, Laranjeiras do South, Guarapuava, Pitanga, Curitiba, Lapa, União da Vitória, Irati, Prudentópolis, Ponta Grossa, Carambeí and Castro.

For the analysis of the 2nd harvest corn crop, field visits were made between June 29th and July 2nd, with the aim of evaluating the conditions of the crops, mainly with regard to productivity. In the study, 26 points were georeferenced and photographed in the municipalities of Assis Chateaubriand, Campo Mourão, Cascavel, Francisco Alves, Iracema do Oeste, Janiópolis, Marechal Cândido Rondon, Medianeira, Missal, Nova Aurora, Nova Santa Rosa, Palotina, Quarto Centenário, São Pedro do Iguaçu, Santa Helena, Toledo and Vera Cruz do Oeste.

To avoid contact with informants in the 2nd harvest corn research, a methodology was applied that took into account production factors by determining the spacing between sowing lines, counting the number of plants per linear meter in the sowing lines , determining the average quantities of ears per plant, determining the average quantities of rows of grains per ear and determining the average quantities of grains in each row of ears.

The result of this study will be released on August 11th, in the announcement of the 11th Grain Harvest Survey carried out by the Company nationwide.
