Provisional measure extends the deadline for joining Refis do Funrural to October 30th
This is the fourth time that the government has extended the deadline for refinancing
The government responded to a request from the Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Confederation (CNA) and other entities in the agricultural sector and published this Wednesday (30), in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU), the extension of the deadline for adhesion of producers to the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR). The final date, which would expire today, was extended to December 31st of this year.
The CAR is provided for in the Forest Code (Law 12.651/2012) and is mandatory for all rural properties, including those that do not have any irregularities. Producers with liabilities to be settled must first register their properties in the CAR. This way, they will be able to join the Environmental Regularization Program (PRA).
The CNA defended the extension of the deadline for several reasons, including the difficulty of many small farmers and ranchers, especially in regions where properties were not registered, who would be prevented from operating rural credit and selling their products.
According to the entity, this registration is vitally important not only for environmental monitoring, established by law, but for the continuity of producers' activities. Furthermore, according to Law 12.651, it is up to the public authorities to provide support to small producers when it is impossible for them to pay for the withdrawals necessary to register the legal reserve, and there are even initiatives in this regard that would be lost with the end of the registration period.
Therefore, CNA warns all producers who have not yet registered their property with CAR not to leave registration until the last minute, as according to the entity, this is the last possible extension period, provided for in current legislation.
The entity also advises all those who do not have the financial means to register, to seek support from the environmental agency in their state to receive the technical assistance necessary to register their property in the CAR.
