Government publishes decree for agricultural development in Matopiba

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva issued Decree No. 11.767, published this Friday (03/11) in the Official Gazette of the Union, which establishes the management committee responsible for preparing the Matopiba Agricultural and Agroindustrial Development Plan.

The initiative focuses on promoting and coordinating public policies aimed at sustainable economic, environmental and social development, to improve the population's quality of life. The Matopiba region covers geographic microregions in the mostly cerrado areas on the borders of Bahia, Maranhão, Tocantins and Piauí.

The objective is to guide federal programs, projects and actions related to agricultural, livestock and agro-industrial activities to be implemented in the region's coverage area and promote the harmonization of these initiatives.

The following guidelines will be observed:

1. Agricultural development based on agro-environmental sustainability and territorial management
2. Increased efficiency of logistics infrastructure
   
3. Expansion and strengthening of agriculture, livestock and family agro-industry, through the implementation of development and financing instruments that promote improved income, employment and professional qualifications of rural producers and agro-industrial entrepreneurs.
   

Term - The management committee will prepare and approve the PDA-Matopiba within 180 days, counting from the date of designation of its members. The committee will be composed of a representative from each of the following ministries: Agriculture and Livestock, who will chair it, Civil House, Agrarian Development and Family Farming, Development, Industry, Commerce and Services and Integration.

There will also be a representative of the Executive Branch of each of the states and municipalities in the region, two representatives of the business sector and employers' unions, a representative of workers' unions and a representative of educational and research institutions operating in the area covered. from PDA-Matopiba.

The management committee is responsible for approving the PDA-Matopiba, monitoring the implementation, execution and effectiveness of the plan, promoting coordination between public bodies and entities and civil society organizations, preparing an annual report on the execution and effectiveness of the plan. , establish technical groups and promote debates on sectoral policies.
