After crossing low levels, coffee prices rise at the end of 2019
Until the month of October, values were weakened, due to still comfortable supply prospects in the 2019/20 harvest year.
With an expected increase in the cultivated area by 1,7% in relation to the previous harvest, the 2019/2020 grain harvest, in Goiás, has an estimated production of 24,6 million tons. The data was released this Wednesday, January 8, in the 4th Grain Survey of the National Supply Company (Conab). The highlight was soybeans, whose production has an estimated increase of 5,4% compared to the 2018/2019 harvest, and an expectation of 12,05 million tons.
According to the survey, the delay in rain and the weather conditions for soybean cultivation were favorable. Oilseed productivity was also favored and increased by 3,3% compared to the previous harvest, reaching 3.400 kilos per hectare. The delay in rain, however, according to the study, could affect the performance of 2nd harvest corn, whose production is estimated at 8,6 million tons.
The survey also points to growth in the production of beans of 5,1%, with an estimated production of 319,9 thousand tons, and corn 1st harvest, with an estimated production of 2,3 million tons - an increase of 15,4%. Wheat, whose 2019 harvest has already ended, had a significant growth of 126,2%, with a harvest of 158,8 thousand tons.
“Conab's estimate points to new records in the historical series of grain production in the country and, in Goiás, we should have excellent results, too. This is due to a series of factors, including everything from the weather to the work that the Government of Goiás has done with the municipalities, such as the delivery of backhoe loaders, from the Mechanized Patrol transfer contract. This work, for example, contributes to the maintenance of local roads and favors production in the field”, analyzes the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Antônio Carlos de Souza Lima Neto. “Furthermore, this increase in productivity shows that the producer has invested in technology and assertiveness and that the field must continue to be at the forefront of the trade balance in Goiás, as the recent data released in relation to foreign trade, which highlighted the strength of agriculture, representing 76% of everything that was exported by the State of Goiás in the last year”, he highlighted.
Also released this Wednesday, January 8, the Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) showed growth in the production of bananas and Arabica coffee in December 2019. Bananas have an estimated production of 208.178 tons (4,9% growth compared to December 2018) and Arabica coffee 19.591 tons (11,2% growth).
