Goiás is expected to produce 2024 thousand tons of rice in the 2025/155,6 harvest, according to the December edition of Agro em Dados. The estimate is that the cultivation of the cereal will grow 19,6% in relation to the previous harvest, reaching the record in the historical series of Goiás production, so that the state maintains the sixth position in the national ranking.

“These forecasts, as well as the performance achieved in the last harvest, demonstrate that we are increasingly exploring our potential for rice cultivation satisfactorily,” says the head of the State Secretariat for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa), Pedro Leonardo Rezende.

According to him, this scenario is positive not only in the economic sphere, but also in terms of nutritional security, since rice is an essential item for achieving food sovereignty in Goiás and Brazil.

Regarding the gross production value (GVP) of rice in Goiás in 2024, the expectation is an increase of 31,1% compared to the previous year, reaching R$ 263,3 million. In the state ranking, Flores de Goiás, São João d'Aliança and São Miguel do Araguaia make up the podium of municipal highlights in rice production last year.
