Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM) is expected to make layoffs as part of a global effort to cut costs, Reuters reported. There is no information on the number of employees affected.

ADM has been struggling with the decline in grain prices, which has driven global stockpiles to record levels and reduced profit margins for major grain companies. The company's business model, based on the storage, processing and marketing of agricultural commodities, has been directly impacted by this scenario.

The company had previously indicated it was seeking to reduce expenses in light of pressure on its financial results. In previous statements, it warned that the current challenging commodity price cycle is expected to persist until 2025.

Sources consulted by Reuters indicate that the layoffs will mainly affect operational areas, including factories, ports and warehouses in the United States. However, cuts will also occur in other countries and departments of the company.

ADM did not comment on the matter.
