Credicitrus celebrates 40 years with business fair and shows
Almost half of the amount invested in financing for cooperative members directly serves agribusiness
GDM announced today an agreement signed to acquire the entire company Biotrigo Genética, a reference company in wheat genetic improvement in South America. The action depends on the approval of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), in Brazil, and the National Commission for Argentine Competition Defense.
“Biotrigo and GDM have a lot in common, which guarantees the continuity and complementarity of their operations”, he states Ignacio Bartolomé (in the photo), CEO of GDM.
“Both have origins and valuable legacies as family businesses. They also coincide in their values and focus on improving plant genetics. We are confident that this integration will be done naturally and very fruitfully”, he explains.
The incorporation of Biotrigo into GDM expands the portfolio and solutions for farmers. This move will also allow GDM to expand its presence to other important markets for wheat cultivation, such as the United States, Canada and Europe. Through this acquisition, the group foresees a greater level of investment in research and development programs in plant genetics using new technology tools, such as genomics, data analytics or gene editing, with a focus on wheat, and resulting in more and better products for farmers and the wheat chain.
This investment responds not only to GDM's diversification strategy in the Brazilian market, but will strengthen the group's intention to add value to wheat cultivation, through the knowledge of both companies in plant genetic improvement and the commercialization of cultivars. The incorporation will respect and continue both the business and the varieties developed by Biotrigo, recognized for their agronomic characteristics, productivity, health and industrial quality.
GDM has been present in Brazil for 20 years with a very clear strategy, which consists of working in a solid and close relationship with multipliers, responsible for playing a fundamental role in the agribusiness chain. This collaboration is based on the application of advanced technology to genetic improvement, efficient logistics and proximity to producers.
“The integration of Biotrigo into GDM will further boost the production capacity of cultivars with high productive potential and meet the specifications of the industries that process the grains. This factor is generated by the combination of knowledge, experience and development capacity of both companies, aligned with global food challenges and sustainability objectives", highlights André Cunha Rosa, director of Biotrigo.
Ottoni Rosa Filho, also director of Biotrigo, comments that the identification between the companies occurred due to the agility to implement improvements and the ability to accelerate the process of developing cultivars focused on increasing the success rate of farmers.
“In both companies, we work with high quality standards in our breeding programs. And, what is equally or more important, we share similar cultures, which strengthens the Biotrigo team and gives them opportunities for professional development in the future. I am convinced that the synergy between GDM and Biotrigo will be highly positive”, he highlights.
André Cunha Rosa and Ottoni Rosa Filho are the founding partners of Biotrigo and will continue to actively participate in the business as members of the company's Advisory Board.
