Gabriel Delgado is the new representative of IICA Brazil

Gabriel Delgado is the new representative of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in Brazil. He replaces agribusiness specialist and economist Christian Fischer, who has been leading the IICA representation in Brazil as representative in charge since February, when Ecuadorian agronomist Hernán Chiriboga, who headed the mission between January 2016 and January 2020, took over. the organization's office in Chile.

Born in Coronel Suarez, province of Buenos Aires, where he is a producer of extensive irrigated agriculture, Delgado was director of the Research Center for Political, Economic and Social Sciences (CICPES) of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) of Argentina, a body with functions similar to those at Embrapa, and where he joined in 1998 and held various positions.  

Delgado was national secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries between 2013 and 2010. In 2010 he presided over the Argentine Association of Agrarian Economy and has served as advisor and director in several entities linked to agriculture and agribusiness. He also has more than 20 years of teaching experience at several universities in Argentina in undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

For me, it is an honor to be entrusted with representing the organization in an agricultural powerhouse like Brazil. The challenge is proportional to the size of this giant, but the opportunities also accompany the country's greatness. I hope to contribute, dialogue and start partnerships with all sectors that affect production and quality of life in the countryside”, said Delgado.
