This week, Fundecitrus received a visit from researchers from the Center for International Cooperation in Agricultural Research for Development (CIRAD) in France, Patrick Ollitrault, Bárbara Hufnagel and Raphaël Morillon, as well as a researcher from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and the Superior Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) of Spain, Leandro Peña.
The visit aimed to discuss the progress of the genetic resistance to greening project, a partnership between Fundecitrus and these institutions. The international project, called Pre-HLB, is part of an effort by 24 institutions, which aims to study efficient control measures to prevent the disease from entering Europe.
Cooperation is essential for the development of greening resistance studies, in addition to the exchange of experience and knowledge generated for the development of the citrus sector.
In addition to the meetings, the team visited Fundecitrus research laboratories, greenhouses and citrus properties in the region. Visitors were welcomed by Fundecitrus researcher Nelson Wulff and his team.
