Wheat crop productivity increases
2019 harvest should be 1,1% bigger than last season
Fundecitrus has opened a selection process for three post-doctoral positions in the areas of Phytopathology, Phytotechnics and Entomology, with a grant from the São Paulo Research Support Foundation – FAPESP, within the scope of the thematic project “Measures to reduce primary infections in management integrated huanglongbing in the São Paulo citrus belt: technical and economic feasibility”, recently approved by FAPESP (process no. 2017/21460-0), under the coordination of Fundecitrus researcher Renato Beozzo Bassanezi.
The main objective of the study is to evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of measures available to citrus growers that can be integrated to reduce primary greening infections (huanglongbing/HLB). Measures applied directly to control the primary source of inoculum will be evaluated outside the orchard. In the orchard border strip, up to the first 200 meters from the property boundary, the region with the highest concentration of the migrant psyllid carrying the bacteria from neighboring areas, measures will be evaluated to prevent primary dispersal from reaching the interior of the orchard and prevent the primary inoculation of the bacteria by the psyllid, preventing the vector from accessing the plant or feeding on the plant.
Postdoctoral fellows will carry out their activities with the Fundecitrus Research and Development department, at its headquarters in Araraquara/SP. The scholarships will last for 24 months, extendable for up to 24 months, depending on the scholarship holder's performance, which will be evaluated annually in accordance with FAPESP standards.
The selected candidate will receive a postdoctoral scholarship from FAPESP and a technical reserve equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the scholarship is also provided, which aims to cover unforeseen expenses directly related to the research activity. If the scholarship holder lives in another municipality and needs to move to the city where the research host institution is located, he or she may be entitled to installation assistance.
Candidates must have completed their doctorate less than seven years ago. The other requirements required for candidacy required by FAPESP can be consulted at http://www.FAPESP.br/bolsas/pd.
Candidate's obligations
Important: failure to comply with these standards and obligations described in http://www.FAPESP.br/bolsas/pd implies the cancellation of the scholarship and the refund of payments already made by FAPESP, in updated values.
The candidate must be available to start the Post-Doctorate as soon as the FAPESP Grant Agreement is signed. Estimated start on September 1, 2019.
