7th Wheat Meeting, held by Sindustrigo, promoted broad debate on the economic scenario of the sector, as well as trends, innovations and the role of the consumer market
Fundecitrus held, on Thursday, November 10, the penultimate Citros em Foco Meeting of 2022, in Avaré (SP). Around 160 participants, including citrus growers, agronomists and other professionals in the citrus sector, received information on important citrus issues.
The event's opening lecture was given by Fundecitrus agronomist Guilherme Rodriguez, who spoke about controlling greening in the face of the high psyllid population. “The disease has seen a significant increase in this region. Therefore, producers came together to share information about their properties. In addition, they have carried out joint management, combining spraying, chemical groups and sharing data on psyllid captures. This union of citrus growers is essential to help combat greening”, he comments.
Then, Fundecitrus researcher Haroldo Volpe spoke about the main management strategies for fruit flies and ferrets. “It is essential that the producer is able to identify these pests, which are currently the biggest causes of fruit drop. Early monitoring, using correct traps and collecting and destroying damaged fruits are some of the main management measures to control these pests”, he explains.
The event also featured lectures by representatives of Citrus-Friendly Companies. And, in addition to the lectures, producers received materials from Fundecitrus, with management guidelines on citrus pests and diseases.
