The Agricultural Research Company of Minas Gerais (Epamig) promotes next Thursday, August 22nd, in São João del-Rei (MG), the Fruit Farming Field Day: Technical and Economic Aspects of Fruit Trees in Temperate and Tropical Climates . The event takes place from 8:30 am, at Campo Experimental Risoleta Neves. Registration will be free and done on site.

In the program, four field stations will cover the cultivation of peach, fine grapes, figs and pitaya. The topics will be presented by Epamig professionals, Emerson Dias Gonçalves (researcher), Paulo Márcio Norberto (researcher), Valter Silva (agricultural technician) and Fábio Oseas dos Reis Silva (professor at Epamig Itap), respectively.

The field day will promote the exchange of experiences on different aspects of the cultivation, production and marketing of these fruits. “This is an opportunity for us to strengthen connections between producers, researchers and extensionists, clarify doubts, talk about the market and share knowledge”, says Epamig researcher Paulo Márcio Norberto.

One of the highlights of this edition will be the cultivation of fine vines. “We already have producers planting fine grapes in the Campo das Vertentes region and people are very excited about this possibility. We have here, at the Experimental Field, a small collection of varieties that we will demonstrate to the participants”, says Paulo Norberto.

The Federal University of São del-Rei (UFSJ) and Emater-MG are partners in organizing the Field Day, which also has the support of Fapemig and the municipal governments of Barroso, Barbacena, Alfredo Vasconcelos, Carandaí and Belo Vale, which have a Technical Cooperation Agreement with Epamig's Risoleta Neves Experimental Field.
