According to data from the latest analysis of the Edenred Repom Freight Index (IFR), the average freight price per kilometer traveled in March was R$7,35 in the country, which represents a slight drop of 0,54% compared to February. It is the first drop in the average price recorded by the IFR since November 2024.

“Despite the factors that usually put upward pressure on freight prices, such as the increase in the freight price floor and the start of the harvest, the IFR observed a slight decline in March. Although the slowdown in the industrial sector has a more significant impact on the manufacturing industry, it is important to note that commodities continue to show positive results. Furthermore, the Edenred Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL) indicated a slight drop in the price of diesel at gas stations in March compared to February, a factor that may also have contributed to easing operating costs and impacting the prices charged for road transport,” analyzes Vinicios Fernandes, director of Edenred Repom.

In the following months, the evolution of freight prices will continue to be linked to a combination of economic variables. “The reduction in the price of diesel at refineries announced by Petrobras and in effect since April 1st may bring further relief to operational transportation costs, while the performance of sectors such as agribusiness and the extractive industry should continue to have an impact on the pace of hiring in the sector and the prices charged per kilometer traveled”, concludes Fernandes.
