Free webinar will discuss the role of fertilizers in food security

With the aim of discussing the importance of fertilizers in achieving food security in the world, Plant Nutrition Science and Technology (NPCT) will hold, next Tuesday (28), a free webinar with the theme “Fertilizers and Food Security ”, with Dr. Luís Ignácio Prochnow. The online event will be held from 10am to 11:15am, Brasília time. Sign up via website.

Dr. Luís Ignácio Prochnow, General Director of NPCT, will address fundamental facts related to the topic. “The objective is to debate the importance of nutrients contained in fertilizers for supplying food in adequate quantity and quality to the human population. Plants need nutrients in appropriate amounts and in a balanced way”, explains Prochnow.

According to the United Nations (UN), the number of people in severe hunger in the world could double to around 265 million people by the end of 2020. Report published on April 20, 2020 does not consider the impact on food security caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has already infected more than 2,6 million people and caused the deaths of 184.000.
