FPT presents the energy of the future in a podcast series

"Powercast” features a chat with experts from the CNH Industrial brand about innovation, design and sustainability in powertrain

The spirit of continuous evolution drives FPT Industrial, a CNH Industrial brand that develops customized solutions for missions in the segments on-road, off-road, maritime and power generation. With more than 615 thousand engines in circulation in South America alone, the company reinforces its proximity to the public by launching the “Powercast”. The series of podcast on Spotify will present, every fortnight, the latest trends in innovation, Design and sustainability in powertrain, focused on the energy of the future.

In the first episode, now available on the platform, FPT highlights the engines of the future and new fuels that can be used as intelligent energy sources. FPT Industrial's Product Engineering manager, Gustavo Teixeira, discusses, together with FPT engineer João Pedro Abreu, the brand's 25-year experience in natural gas and how alternatives such as biogas, biomethane, ethanol and hybrid engines can be applied to fuels already used in Brazil.

The mediation of the series of podcast is the responsibility of Emilio Camanzi, a renowned journalist with five decades of experience in the Brazilian automotive sector.

“Natural gas can be used in both gaseous and liquefied form, solving autonomy and supply restrictions, in addition to presenting a considerable reduction in CO2 compared to diesel”, explains Teixeira.

One of the brand's gas engines is the FPT Cursor 13 Natural Gas, the most powerful for transporting cargo and passengers in Brazil, with 460 hp. Powered by compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas and biomethane, it is the first engine on road specially developed for long-distance applications, providing fuel cost savings of up to 20%, in addition to lower operating noise.

Recently, FPT was also honored at the 2020 REI Award with the FPT F1C Gas Ethanol concept engine. Under development by the Technical Center of Contagem (MG), it combines the use of compressed natural gas, biomethane and ethanol, the latter Brazilian energy matrix, allowing the most appropriate choice for urban delivery missions, combining performance, versatility, robustness and energy savings. use.

“Hybrid engines are also a reality, as serial and parallel hybrids, and can be linked to engines running on gas and ethanol, reducing consumption and emissions”, highlights Abreu.

CURSOR X IS THE THEME OF THE NEXT EPISODE

FPT's Multi-Power technology is synthesized in the Cursor X, a concept engine that combines technical capabilities and functionalities of a 4.0 power source and will be the theme of the second episode of the “Powercast” series. With modular construction, the Cursor Its versatility allows combinations of operation in pure electric mode to parallel or serial hybrid.

“More and more engines will be connected, providing real-time performance data and operating modes, delivering high levels of connectivity to the user and fewer maintenance interruptions”, adds Teixeira.
