RS 2024/25 Harvest: wet weather delays winter planting
Excessive rains affect the schedule of wheat, barley and white oat crops
The weather forecast indicates that rain will return throughout Rio Grande do Sul by the end of the week. After a period of stability, the weather will start to change with the arrival of a cold front, followed by new instability systems that should cause significant amounts of precipitation in the state. The trend for June 17 and 18 indicates that rain will advance to all regions of Rio Grande do Sul, with the risk of storms in several locations.
The information comes from the Integrated Agrometeorological Bulletin 24/2025, prepared by the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi), in partnership with Emater/RS and the Rio Grande do Sul Rice Institute (Irga).
Friday (13/6): Atmospheric stability still predominates. Temperatures are rising.
Saturday (14/6): From dawn onwards, a cold front will advance. Moderate rainfall in several regions, with the possibility of electrical discharges.
Sunday (15/6): Precipitation still in the morning, but with less intensity. In the afternoon, the cold front moves towards the ocean. Temperatures show a slight decline.
Monday (16/6): The stable conditions of the previous day should persist, with cold temperatures followed by warming throughout the day across the state.
Tuesday (17 / 6) e Wednesday (18/6): Rains are spreading to all regions of the state. Risk of storms in several locations.
The forecast for the next six days indicates significant rainfall in much of Rio Grande do Sul. Precipitation volumes are expected to vary between 50 mm and 100 mm in the regions of Campanha, Western Border, Missões, Central areas, North, Serra and Metropolitan region. In some parts of Missões, Central-North, Serra and North Coast, accumulated amounts may exceed 100 mm. For the East of Campanha, the areas of Serra do Sudeste and Costa Doce, the expected volumes will be lower, varying between 10 mm and 50 mm. In the extreme South of the state, these volumes may exceed 50 mm.
