FMC Corporation received top honors in several categories at this year's Agrow Awards, an international assessment honoring key advances in agriculture. FMC gained the best R&D pipeline and application technology for its 3RIVE 3D in-furrow application system. Additionally, Dr. William E. Barnette, retired Director of Chemical Discovery at FMC, was recognized with the prestigious Agrow Award for Lifetime Achievement.

The Agrow Awards recognize industry successes, setting a benchmark for excellence while rewarding innovative ideas and concepts that have pushed the boundaries of what is possible. Recipients are chosen from entries from around the world and judged by a panel of independent judges.

Best R&D Pipeline

Crop protection discovery research is critically important to help farmers produce an abundant and safe supply of food for a growing world population. "We are honored to be recognized for our research. FMC has its most robust innovation pipeline in a generation. Our R&D pipeline is focused on new active ingredients and new modes of action to address disease and weed challenges across the world, including resistant pests, which are a serious threat to crop production," said Kathleen Shelton, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of FMC.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. William E. Barnette, Retired Director of Discovery Chemistry FMC, has been recognized with the prestigious Agrow Award for Lifetime Achievement. Throughout his 30-year career at FMC and DuPont Crop Protection, Dr. Barnette has been an esteemed leader in identifying new molecules with the potential to become active ingredients for crop protection.

Best Application Technology

FMC won the best application technology category with its patent-pending 3RIVE 3D application system, designed to enable in-furrow application at incredibly low volumes. "Growers are seeking crop protection delivery technologies that are more sustainable, accurate and convenient. The 3RIVE 3D system is a revolutionary crop protection platform for seedling defense and yield improvement," said Rick Ekins, FMC Leader Precision Platforms.

Currently used in the United States on corn and soybeans, 3RIVE 3D technology is being tested on sugar beet, cotton, beans, sunflower, among others. A robust pipeline of new 3RIVE 3D formulated products is in development, including those that combine multiple active ingredients such as insecticides, fungicides and biostimulants.

These awards indicate a future of innovative tools for Latin American farmers, highlights Ronaldo Pereira, Vice President of FMC for Latin America. According to him, having a recognized robust and diversified pipeline means the possibility of introducing products that represent solutions not only to today's problems, but also to the future demands of farmers and society. “It’s exciting to be part of this moment in which, at the same time as we conquer new spaces for our current products, we prepare to continue bringing modern and effective solutions to our customers in the future.”
