Rio de Janeiro is considered one of the largest states for tomato production in Brazil. However, 99,9% of cultivation is carried out in the open field and only 0,1% in a greenhouse for cherry tomatoes. Given this scenario, Horticeres Sementes in partnership with Rezende Agrícola developed the Sabor de Verdade Project, in which they will present producers in the region with a new way of planting Vero tomatoes in a greenhouse. Exclusive, the event will be held on February 16th, in Nova Friburgo-RJ, and will have around 300 participants.
“The proposal is to show producers that it is possible to have a highly consumed product, with an excellent technological package for the farmer and a differentiated flavor for the consumer”, highlights Ayrton Tullio Junior, Agronomic Engineer and Executive Director of Horticeres Sementes. Today, the Vero tomato is present throughout Rio de Janeiro – in the Mountain Region, South of Rio de Janeiro and North of the state, and is known for being a differentiated product for having high productivity and quality in its fruits, being cultivated in open fields. “With this event, we want to present a planting proposal that will provide greater profitability for the producer and more quality and flavor for the consumer”, highlights José Rezende, Managing Partner of Rezende Agrícola.
