On February 17th, at 8 am, AgroBrasília will hold the Soybean Cultivar Competition Field Day, with support from the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the Federal District (Emater-DF) and the company Metos Brasil. At the event, participants will be able to learn details of the tournament, such as the participating companies and the registered cultivars. The field day will take place at Fazenda Triacca, at Km 7 of BR-251, in PAD-DF.

The cultivar competition is one of AgroBrasília's reference activities, the results of which will be announced during the Fair, which will take place from May 23rd to 27th. The test is an opportunity for farmers to evaluate the productive potential of cultivars, in addition to observing the quality of root development and the genetic variety of the seeds.

In this edition, 20 companies participated in the tournament and presented 68 cultivars. In one of these cultivars, biological foliar and fertilizer tests were carried out. Planting took place from November 9th to 14th. In total, there are 15 hectares of planting.

The participating companies are Araguaia, Basf (Credenz), Basf S/A (Soytech Sementes), Bayer, Cordius, Corteva, Dimiagro, Dois Marcos Sementes, Embrapa, Equilíbrio, FTS Sementes S/A, GMS, Golden Harvest, Inquima, Koopert , Nidera Sementes, Nutrien, Polli Fertilizandos, Syngenta, and Triunfo Sementes.

President of the Agricultural Cooperative of the Federal District Region (Coopa-DF), which carries out AgroBrasília, José Guilherme Brenner highlights that the “competition is an initiative by producers for producers, with real results and characteristics that help the farmer to stay up to date and decision at the time of planting”. He adds that many producers in the region are waiting for the results of the competition to choose which cultivar to use.

Coordinator of the trial stages, Coopa-DF agronomist Lafayette Machado highlighted the efforts made by the tournament organization to guarantee isonomic conditions for the cultivars to develop. “We ensure that the materials are grown in the same period and under similar conditions. This treatment ensures that the genetic potential of each cultivar is known and is important for the producer to be able to evaluate the seeds well,” he states.

Furthermore, he spoke about the news: “new companies have arrived, which shows confidence in our work, and Metos, which supports the field day, brings a meteorological station, which guarantees data on the amount of rain, sunshine time, temperature . This station can be adopted by farms, for example, which will be able to obtain accurate information and, based on this, improve planting.”
