USDA projects soybean growth in Brazil in the 2025/26 harvest
Planted area should reach 49,1 million hectares, with production estimated at 176 million tons
The National Association for Fertilizer Distribution (Anda) reports that fertilizer deliveries to the Brazilian market ended April 2025 with 2,68 million tons. The volume represents an increase of 16,8% compared to the same month in 2024, when 2,29 million tons were delivered.
In the first four months of this year, 12,12 million tons were recorded. This represented a growth of 10,7% compared to the 10,95 million tons recorded in the same period in 2024. According to Anda, the increase in imports continues to reflect the sector's commitment to supplying agriculture, even in the face of the uncertainties of geopolitical crises, with logistical and strategic challenges to maintain the commercial flow of this important input, essential to increase productivity in the field in view of expectations of a record 2024/2025 harvest.
The state of Mato Grosso, the leader in deliveries to the market, concentrated the largest quantity in the four-month period, with 2,93 million tons, or 24,2% of the total. Next are: Paraná (1,76 million), Goiás (1,29 million), São Paulo (1,24 million) and Minas Gerais (1,17 million).
National production of intermediate fertilizers ended April 2025 with 562 thousand tons. The volume represents growth of 6,3% compared to the same month in 2024.
In the first four months of 2025, 2,24 million tons were produced. There was a growth of 9,1% compared to the same period last year, when 2,06 million tons were produced.
Imports of intermediate fertilizers continue to arrive in Brazil, reaching 2,76 million tons in April, an increase of 7,2%. In the four-month period, the total was 11,26 million tons, representing a growth of 12,2% compared to the same period in 2024, when 10,03 million tons were imported.
At the port of Paranaguá, the main entry point for fertilizers, 3,04 million tons entered, indicating growth of 6,4% compared to 2024, when 2,86 million tons were unloaded. The terminal accounted for 27% of the total imported by all ports.
