Seeds have enzymatic protection systems that defend them from the actions of free radicals that break down membrane structures, proteins, DNA and RNA molecules, among others, and which causes the seed to lose quality and accelerate aging.

The products from Fertiláqua's Golden Seeds line, one of the largest nutrition, plant physiology and soil revitalization groups, act in seed supplementation, vegetative and reproductive stimulation. Through physiological tests – such as germination, tetrazolium and accelerated aging – the efficiency of the line's solutions in increasing storage time, maintaining better levels of seed vigor, was proven.

“With chemical and physiological analysis tests, we were sure of the quality of our products. But then the question arose as to why and how this happens. And that is where we begin the new phase of research, in the Fertiláqua Proteomics Laboratory. Thus, it will be possible to detect in a seed that has been treated with Golden Seeds and another without this treatment, which enzymes are being expressed, the actions they perform, how much total protein there is, among other information, in order to have more assertiveness than the our product offers”, explains Aline Clemente, LAS manager at Fertiláqua.

The objective is to have greater security of the results of the solutions to present to the producer. “When we tell the producer that our product has an effect on storage potential, it will not be just based on the germination or accelerated aging test; We will have other more concrete and recognized scientific evidence to provide greater assurance of what we do, showing that the product activates some enzymatic systems responsible for maintaining the quality of the seeds over time”, he explains.

Through these analyses, it is possible to detect variations in the activity of antioxidant enzymes such as catalase, esterases, superoxide dismutase, in different treatments, to increase the number of these proteins or a certain enzyme and thus have seeds with higher quality and greater storage potential. .

“We are one of the only nutrition companies in the country that has its own laboratories and delivers seed quality results with this level of information. The new analyzes add even more, in addition to being a differentiator for the company, since this technology is only used by laboratories of public companies”, concludes the manager.
