The production of high-quality soybean seeds is gaining prominence as an option among farmers in the Federal District. In 2017 and 2018, for example, more than 30% or around 27 thousand hectares of the region's total production was already destined for this segment. The mapping was carried out by the National Supply Company (Conab), in the study Scenario of Production, Commercialization and Logistics of Soy Seed in DF, published on Monday (06/01).

Most of the seeds produced in the DF, according to the study, are destined for producers in the Center-West, especially in the state of Mato Grosso. This is because the use of certified seed contributes to crop productivity and is one of the main inputs in agricultural production, and the DF, in this regard, has been standing out in the Brazilian agribusiness scenario, obtaining rates above the average nationally, above 3.300 kg/ha.

The analyzes also show that legume production in the Central Highlands is not very significant in terms of volume, compared to the national scenario, something close to 0,2% or 250 thousand tons. However, the regularity of the climate, combined with the adoption of modern agricultural practices and genetic improvement, have contributed significantly to the prominence in the production of highly productive seeds.
