Digital technologies increase the efficiency of integrated pest management
Digital technologies associated with integrated pest management reduced the application of insecticides, generating savings and less environmental impact
The Thematic Project “Sampling and modeling of primary biogenic aerosols in South-Southeast Brazil: associated with improvements in climate models” offers a postdoctoral opportunity with a FAPESP scholarship. The registration deadline ends on September 28, 2020.
The project is developed at the Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of São Paulo (IAG-USP), under the coordination of professor Fábio Gonçalves. The objective is to evaluate the emission rates of these bioaerosols from the agricultural cover of the States of Minas Gerais and São Paulo to improve the predictions of cloud behavior models.
The Fellow will evaluate the impact of land use as sources of ice nucleating biological particles (INPs) and the effect of season and various agricultural practices. The work will involve measuring the flow of biological INPs influenced by the mechanization of coffee harvesting and other crops and forest restoration practices in particular.
The interdisciplinary study will be carried out in collaboration with scientists from five research institutes and universities in Brazil and collaborators from the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (France), Lund University (Sweden), Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (Italy) and Aarhus University (Denmark). , representing knowledge in atmospheric physics, meteorology, microbiology, molecular biology, astrobiology, environmental engineering and cloud modeling.
Applications must be sent to Professor Gonçalves' email (fabio.goncalves@iag.usp.br).
