A FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship is available for the Thematic Project “Geotechnologies in detailed digital pedological mapping and spectral library of soils in Brazil: development and applications”. The registration deadline ends on August 25, 2019.
The scholarship holder will work in the Department of Soil Science at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture at the University of São Paulo (USP), under the coordination of professor José Alexandre Melo Demattê.
One of the objectives of the project is to use proximal soil sensing to promote the use of spectroscopy aimed at applying the technique. Furthermore, an interactive online tool will be developed for classifying and predicting soil attributes using spectral data.
The postdoctoral fellow will also develop part of a project related to remote sensing and digital soil mapping and will participate in activities of the group of geotechnologies applied to soil science.
The following are required for the position: knowledge of soils and experience in geography; knowledge of soil reflectance spectroscopy; experience with software (R, ENVI, ArcGIS, QGIS and/or others) related to image processing; and statistical experience in geoprocessing, modeling and digital mapping.
