A FAPESP Technical Training Grant level four (TT-4) is offered by the project “Development of image analysis procedures to evaluate physical, chemical and physiological characteristics of seeds and seedlings”. The registration deadline ends on July 19, 2019.
The fellow will work in software development at the Center for Imaging and In vivo Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy at the São Carlos Institute of Physics at the University of São Paulo (USP), under the supervision of the professor Francisco Guilhien Gomes Junior.
The scholarship holder will help in the development of computerized systems for evaluating seed vigor, based on morphological attributes of seedlings. Preliminarily, tests will be carried out to define image acquisition standards and image processing algorithms.
Based on the development of pre-processing and automatic segmentation algorithms, the parts of the seedlings will be identified to calculate numerical indices that will be related to the vigor of the seed batch. In the final stage, the user interface and tests will be developed to validate and correct system errors.
The candidate must have a degree, specialist in Image Processing. Applications will be accepted by email francisco1@usp.br, attaching undergraduate transcripts and proof of experience or undergraduate and master's transcripts, letter of interest and curriculum vitae.
Pre-selected candidates will be invited for an interview after July 21st, at IFSC-USP. Distant candidates may be interviewed via videoconference.
