FAEP re-elected, this Monday (25), the board that will lead the entity for the next three years: 2021, 2022 and 2023. Chaired by Ágide Meneguette, the main platform of the group is to strengthen the union system and, therefore, of rural unions, through a series of actions, programs and policies. One of the priorities will be the Union Sustainability Program, launched in 2018, after the end of mandatory union contributions. Out of a total of 138 unions qualified to vote, the ticket had 125 votes in favor, two against, one blank and 10 absentees.
The election was held during the General Assembly held at the entity's headquarters, in Curitiba. Due to the new coronavirus pandemic, for the first time in history, the event was held online. Each union voted from its city, through an encrypted digital system developed by an external company, which guaranteed total security for the vote.
“Our intention is to continue working to support rural unions to become viable, as a way of strengthening the system as a whole, aiming to meet the interests of rural producers and their families,” said Meneguette.
Among several proposals, the platform includes the development of actions with rural producers, so that they recognize and support unions as instruments of representation; the continuity of training and training of union leaders and sector managers; encouraging the diversification of sources of revenue and financing for the union system in Paraná; the integration of entities related to rural associations in the State with FAEP; and the maintenance of actions aimed at increasing income for producers.
“Our focus is rural unions and rural producers. That is what we are doing and that is what we will continue to do”, summarized Meneguette.
To achieve the objectives defined in each proposal, the elected board defined guidelines to be implemented in the areas of agrarian policy (in defense of property and rural producers), agricultural policy (with actions to develop production chains, ranging from analysis to carrying out technical committees) and union policy (strengthening relationships with unions). Other priority areas are information technology (digitally integrating the union system), social communication (expanding access to sector information) and rural union contributions (with the search for mechanisms aimed at maintaining unions).
