In the first eight months of this year, Brazil exported a physical volume of 4,54 million 60kg bags of differentiated coffees, at an average price of US$284,54 per unit, which generated foreign exchange revenue of US$1,292 billion. This volume represents a small increase of 3,2% in the number of bags exported, but a significant growth of 64,3% in foreign exchange revenue obtained, compared to the same previous period. Differentiated coffees are those that have superior quality or some type of certificate of sustainable practices.

In this same context of Brazilian Coffee exports, it is also worth highlighting that the total of all types of coffee exported, in the first eight months in question, reached a physical volume of 25,3 million 60kg bags, with record foreign exchange revenue of US$5,904 billion, based on the average bag price of US$233,58. This quantity, despite representing a 5,3% decrease in physical volume, on the other hand, denotes a historical record in revenue, which was US$ 5,904 billion, a value that corresponds to a 61,4% growth in revenue exchange rate obtained, if the same comparative basis is used for the first eight months of 2022 with those of 2021.

If a breakdown and analysis of the performance of exports by type of coffee is also carried out, in the period in focus, it can be seen that Arabica coffee continues to be the most exported, with 21,707 million bags of 60kg bags, a volume that corresponds to 85,9% of all Brazilian Coffees sold abroad. And, next, soluble coffee stands out, which registered sales equivalent to 2,505 million, representing 9,9% of the exported volume.

And, complementing this analysis, in third place comes canephora coffee (robusta and conilon), with exports of 1,033 million bags (4,1%); and, finally, roasted and roasted and ground coffee, whose sales abroad represented just over 30 thousand bags, which correspond to just 0,1% of the total sold to other countries.

It is also worth highlighting that the numbers and other data on the performance of Brazilian Coffee exports, in the first eight months of 2022, which allowed this analysis to be carried out, among various other relevant information from the sector, are included in the Monthly report August 2022, from the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council – Cecafé, which is available in full at the Coffee Observatory of the Consórcio Pesquisa Café, coordinated by Embrapa Café.

Therefore, in addition to these highlights, it is worth reading and consulting the monthly reports released by Cecafe, which provide detailed information and analysis on Brazilian coffee exports, percentage participation by quality in exports, exports of differentiated coffees, coffee exports by continent, group and economic bloc, main destinations and ports of shipment of exports, Brazilian participation in world coffee exports, among others of interest to coffee agribusiness.

Finally, it is worth highlighting a ranking of the five countries that imported the most Coffees from Brazil, according to data released by Cecafé, in the August 2022 Monthly Report, in the period from January to August 2022. Thus, it appears that the United States leads this ranking , considering that it acquired 5,283 million bags kg, a physical volume that corresponds to 20,9% of the total exported. In second place comes Germany, with the purchase of 4,533 million bags (17,9%). Next come Belgium, with 2,110 million bags (8,3%); Italy, with 2,020 million (8%); and, finally, Japan, in fifth, with the acquisition of 1,130 million bags (4,4%).
