To increase the average productivity of soybeans to 180 bags and 280 of corn for cooperative members, totaling 460 bags per bushel, Copacol created the 2019/2023 cycle of the 460 Productivity Excellence Project. Once the program ended, the result obtained was an average of 466 bags per bushel.
In the last soybean and corn harvest, the volumes harvested by farmers participating in the competition reached 170 bags of soybeans and 296 bags of corn per bushel, a result well above the average.
Every four years new goals are established by the cooperative with the aim of encouraging better yields in the field. The first cycle began in 2011, with the purpose of increasing productivity from 137 bags of soybeans to 160 per bushel by 2015. The cycle was completed successfully, taking the cooperative to a new challenge, the Project Excellence Productivity 440, concluded with success in 2018.
Realizing that it was possible to produce even more, in 2019 the Excelência 460 Project began, ending with historic results for the cooperative. “With this Project we were able to show that it is possible to harvest good yields with profitability in soybean and corn crops. Through the CPA (Agricultural Research Center), we provide our members with the most advanced technology, but above all, with their participation we achieve our goals. Congratulations to all our producers who are largely responsible for the success of the Project”, highlights Copacol’s CEO, Valter Pitol (in the picture).
In this edition, 282 producers and 80 agronomists participated in a cultivated area of 20 thousand hectares, divided into eight regions. For the final, the four highest productivity in each region were chosen: Nova Aurora and Palmitóplois; Jesuits, Carajá and Iracema; Joataesse and Palmitolandia; Goioerê and Universo; Cafelândia Central Santa Cruz and Melissa; Formosa do Oeste; Capanema, Planalto, Perola, Conciolandia and Pranchita in the Southwest; and Good Principle.
“We managed to achieve our objective in this last cycle. We reached the end of the harvest with an average productivity of 466 bags between soybeans and corn: an expressive result, which fills us with pride and shows that all the work of more than a decade allowed us to reach the number we dreamed of and guarantees the producer better results”, highlights the CPA's technical manager, João Maurício Roy.
