Productive sector seeks to promote rice agribusiness in Goiás
Meeting took place at Embrapa Arroz e Feijão
From the 23rd to the 27th of September, the second stage of “É Hora de Plantar” will be held in another six cities by the Mato Grosso Agricultural Research Support Foundation, Fundação MT, the second stage of “É Hora de Plantar”, which aims to help producers and teams to devise strategies for 2019/20 harvest that will begin to be planted soon. Last month, the technology dissemination tour visited nine producing municipalities in Mato Grosso.
One of the strategies that will be presented to the public in the cities of Querência, Canarana, Água Boa, Primavera do Leste, Campo Verde and Rondonópolis is about fertilization and nutrition for soybean crops. On the occasion, experts on the subject will show how research can help the producing class and all professionals who deal directly with farming to obtain greater efficiency in fertilization management and plant development.
According to Fábio Ono, PhD in Soil Science, the research results make it possible to prove with numbers and in different MT locations the gains and losses in soybean productivity according to the management adopted and also the efficiency of using fertilizers and correctives in production systems. “There are many doubts that precede planting regarding the fertilization and nutrition of soybean crops considering the cultivation systems practiced today”, stated the researcher from Fundação MT.
Among the various questions, Fábio cites some of those that can be answered during “It's Time to Plant”: When is the time to apply fertilizers (if there is any risk in bringing forward all the fertilizer in the soy/corn or soy/cotton systems and what dose can be applied) in sandy and clayey soils? How to manage mobile nutrients in the soil (example: potassium, sulfur and boron) in sandy soils?
For the researcher, even with quality information and efficient actions on the soil, a productive crop involves the integration of all areas of agricultural activity and that no area can be interpreted in isolation. And this has been the motto throughout this year of MT Foundation events – “Integration: the key that opens new horizons” to reinforce how work on and off the farm should be done: connected and integrated.
Regarding the specific part of fertilization, the specialist's main recommendations are: “Prioritize straw input in the production system, as the benefits of straw are immense, improving the chemical, physical and biological part of the soil. Apply fertilizers respecting the necessary doses (crop requirements considering system efficiency) and at the correct times for each production environment. Carry out good seed inoculation and planting in humid conditions, providing conditions for good biological nitrogen fixation to occur. Check the fertilizer distribution machines for each type of product so that distribution is homogeneous in the areas”.
Registration to participate in “It’s Time to Plant” is free and can be done at the event location. More information at website.
