Present among the world's leading companies in the agrochemicals market, DuPont Crop Protection takes its cutting-edge technology to the National Hardwood Seminar, an event that takes place on August 31st in the municipality of Nova Friburgo in Rio de Janeiro. The company highlights at the event the extension of the Avatar insecticide registration to a further 38 agricultural crops, in addition to the Verimark and Benevia insecticide program, which is indicated for controlling whiteflies and other important pests in horticultural crops.
According to the company, which also sponsors the Nova Friburgo event, the Avatar insecticide constitutes a strategic tool in carrying out Integrated Pest Management in horticulture, as it preserves the natural enemies of the insect pests it controls. Avatar also has an efficient formulation and high insecticidal potency against difficult-to-control caterpillars. Launched around three years ago and initially recommended for cotton, corn and soybean crops, the product recently received authorization for use on potato, tomato, vegetable and various fruit crops.
“This is an innovative treatment in production, as Avatar's mode of action makes the product the ideal tool for resistance management”, summarizes Luís Grandeza, agronomist, HF marketing manager at DuPont.
JThe Verimark and Benevia insecticide program, adds the company, is recommended for controlling pests of economic importance in horticulture, such as whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci), leafminer (Lyriomyza huidobrensise), cruciferous moth (Plutella xylostella) and others. DuPont also points out that the Verimark and Benevia program contributes to better crop establishment when applied at the beginning of the growing season.
